Third Class Scavenger Hunt
3rd Class was all excited for Jersey Day and the prospect of Cavan in the All Ireland Semi Final tomorrow.

In History we learnt all about the Vikings
3rd class has been participating in Science blast over the last 5 weeks. As a class, they chose a research question ‘How does fertiliser help things grow?’
We brainstormed different methods of researching this question and then split the class into six different groups to carry out the project. One group lined out a patch of grass to compare the growth of grass with fertiliser and grass without fertiliser (manmade and natural) Another group grew sunflower and cress seeds and compared the growth with and without fertiliser. A group created a survey to give to the school staff to voice their opinion on fertiliser, while another made a questionnaire so they could interview a farmer. A group also made their own compost to understand the process of how natural materials can be reused for the growth of plants. Lastly, we had a group to investigate the ingredients in fertiliser.
We had a busy few weeks carrying out our project and we presented our project to our judge last week. We are awaiting the results. However, whatever the outcome of the result, third class has put in tremendous work and we as a staff are extremely proud of all.
